BILLY
RUTLEDGE
Hatteras Island Christian Fellowship
Cape Hatteras, NC
Billy first came to the Hatteras island as a history teacher in the local high school. That job eventually turned into a position as athletic administrator and in 2001, he resigned his position to become the fulltime pastor of Hatteras Island Christian Fellowship. The church stands strong and committed to the core purposes for which it was raised up, to advance the uncompromised Gospel of Jesus on the island, to be committed to ministry to the least at home and abroad through sacrificial giving and going, and to equip the saints for ministry.
In the modern climate of seeker sensitive, watered down theologies and growth strategies, Billy stands with those who call the modern church to abandon the self-focused lifestyle and embrace the cross. The call of God through Billy's message is to repent and return to a state of hungering and thirsting after righteousness, rather than hungering for success and status in man's eyes at the expense of truth. Billy travels the world, particularly to Africa and Russia, to share the message of the joy of the cross in Jesus. Growing up as a military kid, he has a heart for military families, which has resulted in regular ministry opportunities with the local Coast Guard.
Billy has been married for over 30 years to his wife Erin. They have a son and daughter.
MICHAEL
SMITH
Redeemer Church and
Reformed Theological Seminary
New York City, NY
Michael grew up and went to college in Florida, lived in Europe for five years working as a fashion model, and moved to California in 2000 where he served as a youth pastor, assistant pastor, and senior pastor. Desiring to grow more in his pastoral calling, Michael and his adventurous and very patient family moved from sunny, Southern California to NYC in 2013 so he could help a friend with a church plant and be part of the seminary partnership between Reformed Theological Seminary and Redeemer.
Michael, his wife, Kristyn, and their two sons live in Brooklyn Heights. The Smiths love to explore and hike the surrounding areas of NYC, go to the beach, and travel outside the country, wherever and whenever they can.
